Over the course of two years, Smart Sponge® Plus filters installed in 275 of Norwalk's storm drains captured 19 tons of trash and debris and 1,200 gallons of oils, grease, and solvents... all of which would otherwise have landed in the Long Island Sound. The filters destroyed on average 75.5% of E. coli, with that rate rising in some locations to 95.9%. For more information on the project, click below to download a case study.
Westchester County Airport sits upstream of the Kensico Reservoir, from which the City of New York draws 90% of its drinking water. In 2002, the Airport initiated a Smart Sponge® pilot project, installing 18 Ultra-Urban® Filters to capture fuel, oil, grease, and other pollutants before they could leave Airport property and contaminate the Kensico watershed. On the success of the pilot project, the Airport expanded its Smart Sponge® installation to 54 filters. To read more, click below and download a case study.
