Stormwater Pollution Management Company Grows into Full-Service Firm
Hydrophix, formally AbTech Pacific, becomes
full-service stormwater compliance consulting firm
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – As the weather heats up and beach season flourishes, a newly expanded company delivering innovative solutions for stormwater pollution and erosion control has re-launched to help make local waterways cleaner. Hydrophix is a full-service company providing the total range of stormwater compliance consulting services to commercial companies, industries, and municipalities throughout the Western United States. The company offers everything from products that capture and treat stormwater runoff to full-service engineering and technical support.
Hydrophix was formerly known as AbTech Pacific, a respected regional company that began as the West Coast distributor of AbTech Industries’ Smart Sponge® stormwater filters and skimmers.
“Over the past year we have grown rapidly, evolved and diversified, outgrowing our identity as simply AbTech Pacific,” explained Duane Cook, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hydrophix. “We decided that our original name no longer encompassed the broad range of products and services we are able to offer our clients. We needed a new name and identity to better communicate who we are and what we stand for. The name Hydrophix conveys our commitment to providing innovative solutions for clean water as well as our desire to help our clients contribute to a cleaner environment for all of us.”
Hydrophix approaches stormwater management as a “treatment train” of best management practices. The first stop on this treatment train is to prevent contaminants from entering into the stormwater system. To do this, Hydrophix offers erosion control services and exclusion devices, which are deployed at the entrance of storm drains to keep sediment and debris street-side for street sweeper collection. Once the water enters the storm drains, Hydrophix offers filters and vault systems which not only filter debris, but also contain the Smart Sponge® technology to absorb hydrocarbons and bacteria thereby preventing these contaminants from making it to the end of the pipe and being discharged into waterways.
